Long Before The Club,There Were Two Homes

For Shankar, it begins with growing up between two worlds. Home in Pennsylvania felt unmistakably Indian. His grandparents lived under the same roof, Telugu and Tamil drifted through the house, and mornings began with prayer. Outside the front door, he was a fairly ordinary central Pennsylvania kid. Inside, family, faith, generosity, and conversation came before everything else. Years later, visits to the clubs his family belonged to in India gave those same values a physical place, where work, family, and friendship naturally existed side by side.

Ryan’s story begins somewhere entirely different. In Wichita, Kansas, weekends revolved around family, sports, and the people who always seemed to be nearby. Coaching teams, watching the game, and afternoons on the golf course taught him that people rarely become a community all at once. It happens by returning to familiar places, sharing experiences, and slowly becoming part of something bigger than yourself.

Years later, those ideas found common ground. When they met, the golf course became more than a place to play. It became where they traded stories about home, the places that had stayed with them, and the communities that had shaped them. Before long, they realized they weren’t describing two different ideas. They were describing the same human need through different experiences.

East | West is our attempt to build a place that carries a little of both. Not a recreation of either world, but a place where the best parts of each can continue to shape everyday life.
